Accessibility Statement

IdentaZoop | identazoop.ca (Last updated: May 18, 2026)

IdentaZoop is committed to making this website accessible to all visitors.

What web accessibility is

An accessible site allows visitors with disabilities to browse the site with the same or similar level of ease as other visitors. This is achieved through the capabilities of the browsing system and through assistive technologies such as screen readers.

Accessibility adjustments on this site

This site has been adapted to meet WCAG 2.2 AA guidelines to the greatest extent possible within the Wix platform. As part of this effort:

  • The Wix Accessibility Wizard, Lighthouse, and WAVE (web accessibility evaluation) were used to identify and resolve accessibility issues.

  • The site language has been set.

  • Clear heading structures have been defined on all pages.

  • Content order has been reviewed and adjusted.

  • Alternative text has been added to all images.

  • A pause button has been added to the zooplankton image slideshow.

  • Colour combinations have been verified to meet WCAG 2.2 AA contrast requirements (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text). The active/selected navigation item uses Nunito Sans Bold 16px text meeting the 3:1 large text contrast requirement.

  • All links and buttons use descriptive text clearly identifying their destination or purpose.

  • PDF links are labelled with '(PDF)' to warn users before opening.

  • ARIA labels have been added to buttons providing additional context for screen reader users.

  • Information is never conveyed by colour alone — text, labels, or symbols accompany all meaningful visual elements.

Known limitations

Some site functionality depends on the Wix platform and third-party services. Full accessibility compliance for these elements cannot be guaranteed. To be specific, automated tools (Lighthouse and WAVE) may flag heading text colours as low-contrast due to Wix's background rendering technique; all colours have been manually verified using WebAIM Contrast Checker and pass WCAG 2.2 AA requirements. The IdentaZoop logo is exempt from WCAG 2.2 colour contrast requirements (Success Criterion 1.4.3) as logos and logotypes are explicitly excluded from this criterion. Also, the FAQ widget contains an ARIA role attribute generated by Wix that automated tools flag as incorrectly structured; this cannot be modified by the site owner.

On some screen configurations at 200% browser zoom (at a 1280×1024 display resolution), the bottom items in dropdown navigation menus — Invasive Species under Zoop Science, and Client List under Services — may be cut off and unreachable via the menu. Both pages are linked directly from the Home page so that all visitors to the IdentaZoop website have access to every menu item.
